Leesburg News in Brief: Monks pray for downtown businesses
Praying for more businessThe Monks of the Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville have taken on the plight of historic downtown Leesburg and its merchants by including it in their daily prayers. The Leesburg Downtown Business Association has requested a special prayer for paying patrons. Esoterica New Age Store, a longtime downtown merchant, also is including the merchants in its prayer circle.
First Friday is Oct. 3
Historic downtown Leesburg hosts First Friday Oct. 3. During the monthly event, many of the businesses downtown remain open until 9 p.m. or later, offering visitors a chance to take a peek into the town's specialty and antiques shops and galleries and to dine locally.

Court and Market Days
The Town of Leesburg is seeking local artisans, craftspeople, farmers and historical demonstrators to show and sell their goods Oct. 18 at Court and Market Days of Leesburg.

Touring the town
A second commercial developments bus tour has been scheduled for Oct. 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Town staff said the first bus tour was held in September and drew a large response from residents and business owners.
The tour will include town facilities and capital projects and private development projects that recently were completed or currently are under construction.
