Beautiful log cabin on the inside

Don't be fooled by the vinyl siding on the outside -- this circa-1970s home is all cedar log inside. The siding, however, matches the two other outbuildings on the more than 6-acre property. The four-car garage sits off to the side, and the in-law/guest house – complete with a kitchen, full bathroom and bedroom – rests just steps away from the main home.

Turning in the driveway, you travel over a few rolling hills before reaching the back of the home. Before pulling into the circle at the front of the house, you will see the fenced-in tennis/basketball court on your right.

Standing in front of the house, which is almost completely shaded by mature trees, you would never guess what awaits you on the inside.

The front door opens to the log cabin's double-sided foyer. Turn to the right; the great room is truly grand, and once you're inside, you see the full effect of the original log home, neatly put together and in mint condition.

Two large windows sit atop each other, allowing views of the outbuildings and tennis court. A hefty stone fireplace has a raised slate hearth. The master bedroom loft overlooks one side of the great room.

The kitchen has large-tile floors, a bar on one wall with maple cabinets, black granite countertops, black tile backsplash and black appliances. A center island has a large bar for eating in.

French doors lead to a solarium at the end of the house. It is a four-season sunroom, complete with four windows on the ceiling. It also has two sliding glass doors – one for exiting to the front of the house, and one for the back. It also has a working fireplace and is wired for a hot tub.

Back inside, the dining room is just off the kitchen. While it wouldn't hold more than a six-person table, the room is cozy with cedar log walls and hardwood floors.

The left side of the house seems to to be split right down the middle, with a gabled roof giving all rooms on either side of the hallway slanted ceilings.

On one side of the hallway is a half bathroom, a laundry room, a full bathroom and a large bedroom at the back. Two other bedrooms -- one currently being used as an office -- are on the left side of the hallway. All bedrooms have large closets and ceiling fans.

The master suite is the only room on the upper level, which has access by the main staircase in the foyer. The bedroom overlooks the great room and has a hallway that splits into a walk-in closet on one side and the full bathroom on the other side. The bathroom has a double vanity and a tub with sliding glass doors.

The staircase to the lower level is also in the foyer. At the foot of the steps is a gray stone bar with kitchen cabinets and a granite countertop. The level has a full bathroom with two vanities and a stand-up shower. Saloon doors open to a billiards room at the end of the house – perfect for enjoying drinks while competing in pool.

The log home has a Colorado-style flair, perfect for a family wanting to settle in wild, western Loudoun.
