Kiss-A-Pig finalists drive to the finish

Heather Elias, into the home stretch of the Kiss-A-Pig fundraising contest for the Loudoun County Fair, turned July 26 to what she knows best – golf at Westpark Golf Club in Leesburg.

Her husband, Michael, just happens to be the pro there.

For a $10 donation, golfers could win a six-pack of golf balls – just hit the ball from the 10th tee to the green 160 yards away. A larger donation bought a chance for a grander prize. The golf club donated all the prizes to support Heather's campaign.

The four Kiss-A-Pig contestants will square off in the main arena of the fairgrounds on Dry Mill Road west of Leesburg at 6:30 pm. Aug. 2 – the fattest piggy bank wins, and the winner will pucker up for the official Kiss-A-Pig porker.

All money raised goes to the Loudoun County Fair youth programs and buildings.

Donations will be taken right up to the final count.

Joe Myer, Merrill Lynch in Leesburg; Sola Pallotta, the Pink Shop and the Very Virginia Shop in Leesburg; and Wayne Bramhall, Loudoun Times-Mirror, are raising money to get to kiss the pig.

Go to www.loudouncountyfair.com for a full schedule of fair activities – rodeo, livestock judging, circus, fresh farm-cooked dinners, carnival rides and more.
