New community center, Mount Zion refuge and the Lenah school issue

By Dorothy Teates

New center: There is a lot going on in our section of the county. On this Saturday (as I write), the new Arcola Community Center will open. The location is not Arcola, however. It is beyond the South Riding Giant Grocery. The same building houses the preschool. Sorry, I did not know in time to let you know.

Mount Zion refuge: Mount Zion Preservation Association is holding a naming rights fundraiser for the 88.6-acre "forever open, forever wild" section they purchased in 2004. They have a huge mortgage payment and are struggling to get it paid. If you can give a certain amount of money, your family name will be on some part of the refuge. Eventually, there will be a pavilion for educational and personal events. Your name could be on that. Also, there will be a statue on which your name could be placed.

Lenah school issue: Then, there is the Lenah Run school situation. Some are for and some against. Here's a situation where you could let your supervisor and your school board member know your feelings on the subject.

What's happening with you and your church, club or family? We will see that it gets in Turnpike. Let me know.
