Intellectual Property

Loudoun Small Business Development Center will host a seminar, “Basics of Intellectual Property: Small Business, Big Money” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Cascades Library, 21030 Whitfield Place, Sterling.

If you want to enhance your knowledge of patents, trademarks, service marks, copyrights and trade secrets, let the author of this premise, Thomas Dunlap, elucidate IP for you. Dunlap is managing partner of the Washington, DC and Leesburg, VA firm of Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver and is a member of the Va., Md. and DC Intellectual Property Bars. His practice focuses on intellectual property and commercial litigation. He has represented local, national and international clients in a variety of complex IP litigation. Mr. Dunlap will: explain the differences between a patent, copyright and trademark; explain the rights and protections afforded to the owners of IP assets and the processes for obtaining them; address other issues affecting IP rights such as non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, employment agreements and waivers, and; participate in an open Q&A session, time permitting.

The program is free, but registration is required. Call 703-430-7222, or e-mail sbdc@loudounsbdc.org.
