Carriage Way Kids raise money
Carriage Way Kids, a community service group in Loudoun, raised $107 for the Loudoun County Animal Shelter through a bake sale July 12.
Carriage Way Kids was created two years ago by Emily Zatorski, a recent graduate of Loudoun County High School.
Emily founded the group to show children that community service can be fun and to let them know that they can make a difference in the community at any age.
Carriage Way Kids will continue community service efforts. If you are a nonprofit organization and would like volunteers for an upcoming project, e-mail Leigh Ann Macklin at leighannmacklin@gmail.com.
Video contest for kids
As travel becomes more cost-prohibitive, a new contest is challenging children across the country to create a video of a special summertime event in their hometown.
The contest, "Summer in My Town," encourages children 7 to 13 to submit their video.
The winner will receive $250 and a special airing of their video on MeetMeAtTheCorner.org, the Web site that sends kids on virtual field trips.
The contest deadline is Aug. 31.
Complete information including instructions and submission guidelines and rules can be found at www.SummerInMyTownContest.com.
Final cassette tapes can be mailed to Meet Me at the Corner "Summer in My Town" Video Contest, 1710 First Ave., P.O. Box 283, New York, NY 10128.
