On Stage

The following is a list of upcoming productions and auditions in Loudoun.

 

Productions

 

'Oklahoma': The Sterling Playmakers will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" weekends July 25-Aug. 10 at Potomac Falls High School in Sterling. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.

Handsome rancher Curly (played by T.J. Miles) falls for lovely farm gal Laurey (Rachel Gray), but their relationship is threatened by the villainous Jud Fry (Steve Smith). Meanwhile, Ado Annie (Andrea Hepfinger) is embroiled in a hilarious courtship with the jealous Will Parker (Javi Harnley).

The chaos is punctuated by Aunt Eller (Susan Kronenberg), trying to keep the peace.

''Guys and Dolls': Aurora Studio Theatre is conducting auditions for its fall production of "Guys and Dolls" Thursday, July 17, and Friday, July 18, 7-9 p.m. in Purcellville's Carver Center, 200 Willie Palmer Way.

There are roles for ages high school through adult. Audition tips may be found at DDE_LINKwww.storyroot.com/auroraAuditionTips.html. DDE_LINK Those interested should prepare a one- to two-minute comic monologue and bring sheet music for 32 bars of a ballad and 32 bars of a high-energy song. An accompanist will be provided at the audition. Auditioners should make a 10-minute audition appointment by e-mailing info@aurorastudiotheatre.org or by calling Aurora at 540-668-7072.

Master Singers: The Master Singers of Virginia, directed by Erik Reid Jones, are looking for new members.

The group is one of the premier a cappella choral ensembles in Northern Virginia, concentrating on 20th- and 21st-century choral music. The Master Singers perform three major concert programs each season, as well as other engagements throughout Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, D.C., area. This will be the Master Singers' 14th season.

The concert series scheduled for this season includes Benjamin Britten's "A Boy Was Born," Francis Poulenc's "Mass in G Major," William Byrd's "Mass for Five Voices," and Shakespeare songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Martin and Jaakko Mantyjarvi.
