A little bit country, in Leesburg
Glancing at this home's landscape, it seems like a throw-back to older times when people grew their own vegetables and canned them in their kitchens. But this home -- which sits on almost 2 acres right outside of Leesburg -- has much more to offer than just that.
This home was designed by a woman who had domesticity in mind.
At the back entrance, a newly built brick ramp perfect for wheelchairs leads up to the Florida room in the back of the house. Sun shines in through three walls of windows into the room, which is temperature controlled for all seasons.
Entering the house, you find the laundry/mudroom. A washer, dryer and sink line one wall, and oak cabinets with Corian countertops line the other. A large pantry features swivel-out shelves, creating enough space for a food stockpiler. A half bathroom is just off the laundry room.
Access to the garage – complete with a workshop and coat closet – also is through this room.
The kitchen is just off the laundry room. It features a secretary's desk, a bay window, oak cabinetry, Corian countertops and a pass-through to the family room.
The family room has large windows on one side and a built-in bookshelf, wood fireplace with wood storage space and a raised hearth.
The entrance hallway is just outside the family room. It has a large coat closet. At the front of the house, to the left of the entry, is the formal living room and dining room. Both have hardwood flooring – which extends throughout the upper level – and the dining room has chair and crown molding.
To the left of the entrance are the bedrooms. Two bedrooms, one at the front and one to the back of the home, share a handicap-equipped bathroom. The master bedroom at the front corner of the home has a full master bathroom. All bedrooms have walk-in closets.
The finished basement has a large recreational room with a wood fireplace and raised hearth. It also has another finished room that could be used for a den or office. An unfinished part of the basement has a lower-level walk-out.
The greatest feature to this home, however, could arguably be the property on which it sits. Views from the front of the home show grass fields and the Blue Ridge mountains.
In the backyard, a vegetable and flower garden have been lovingly cared for and are waiting for their next green thumb.
