It's mudslinging time
Election season has officially begun, as venues and dates for local candidates' forums have been released and e-mails populate LTMEditor@timespapers.com
A few samplings of e-mails I've received, as executive editor, since Labor Day:
1) "Support Candidate A because he will stop the transportation gridlock in Loudoun."
2) "As a concerned parent, Candidate B really, really cares about kids and education."
3) "Candidate C has a true disrespect for her opponent and everything he stands for."
Oh, please.
Can't we just hold the election tomorrow.
I seriously doubt anyone can solve all of the county's traffic woes, and I'll bet you a beer (or a glass of Opus One) that most School Board candidates care about students and education.
Now, I'm sure there'll be plenty of mudslinging before Nov. 6 rolls around, but to say on Labor Day a candidate truly disrespects her opponent is a bit too much.
The first forum is Sept. 19 at the Carver Senior Center in Purcellville. The Loudoun League of Women Voters will host the 27th District Senate threesome of Jill Holtzman Vogel, Donald Marro and Karen Schultz.
