Loudoun Summer Music Fest - A Good Volunteer Opportunity

Northern Virginians are united by a desire to improve the communities in which we live and work. Through our hard work and commitment, we donate thousands of volunteer hours each year in support of many community groups and events. We bring an added spirit of involvement, skill and teamwork and provide enhanced community awareness for the charities we serve.
On Sunday August 3, I had the pleasure of volunteering in support of the Loudoun Summer Music Fest concert with the rock group “KC and the Sunshine Band”. Seventeen of my friends also participated and assisted the concert event organizers, Loudoun Foundation, to sell tickets, check and scan tickets, serve refreshments, and work with concert security personnel in an effort to support local charities. The event took place at the beautiful Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, Virginia. Over 2,700 people attended the event to include 200 children.
During the entire Loudoun Summer Music Fest 10 concert series, there is a continual need of volunteer labor to help meet the concert series enormous volunteer requirements. The music fests live concerts entertain thousands of adults and children during a magical summer that takes place under the stars. I strongly urge those who love to volunteer to come out next year and register to participate in the 2009 concert series.
The Loudoun Foundation's mission is to create and support musical enrichment programs for youth in Loudoun County. The Loudoun Foundation first created the annual, popular 'Loudoun Summer Music Fest' in 2004, now it's in its fifth year of effectively bringing together residents, charities and businesses. In 2005 they created the 'Loudoun All-star Battle of the Bands' program geared toward high school students. The program was started to help raise awareness and funding for its programs, as well as the other charities chosen to benefit from the series, and to provide a fun and affordable, family friendly concert atmosphere for area residents.
Our participation in this summer series helps to establish a prominent volunteer presence in an enlightened and empowered Loudoun County, Virginia community.
